Film director Spike Jonze has joined the cast of the fourth season of Girls.

According to TVLine, the Being John Malkovich director will play a character called Marcos in the upcoming season.

HBO have only confirmed that Jonze would appear in Lena Dunham's comedy series when it returns in 2015. No further details are known about his role, or when Jonze will appear in the new season.

Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black) was recently revealed as one of the new guest stars for Girls, while Zachary Quinto, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Rutter and Judd Apatow's teenage daughter Maude will also make appearances.

Jonze began his career as a music video director - his work includes the celebrated clip for Sabotage by The Beastie Boys - and he has gone on to win acclaim for movies such as Her and Where the Wild Things Are.
