Coldplay have donated £10,000 (€12,600) to a fan suffering from Motor Neurone Disease and they also dedicated a song to him at their recent Royal Albert Hall shows.

The band pledged the money to Jody Duff's Just Giving page. Jody is suffering from MND and is fundraising for research. A friend wrote a letter Coldplay explaining his illness and the band invited Duff to their second show at London's Royal Albert Hall earlier this month.

He spent time with the band backstage and dedicating Fix You to him, frontman Chris Martin told the audience: "We just want to send him, from us and from all of you, as much love as we possibly can."

Speaking to The Mirror, Duff said: "Chris Martin was genuinely interested in learning about motor neurone disease."
