Garth Brooks: we wonder will he hear the song?

Members of the cast of Mrs Brown's Boys and Fair City are featured in a new group who have recorded a song with veteran music man John Keogh to celebrate Garth's no-show. Watch the video for The Night That Garth Brooks Nearly Came to Town here.

Wild Bill Hickey & The Blue Bulls features Eilish O'Carroll, who plays Winnie in Mrs Brown's Boys, and Clelia Murphy who plays Niamh in Fair City, and are lead by Keogh, a leading light in Ireland's 1960s' Beat scene with The Greenbeats, who went on to form Full Circle.

They've released the puntastic song on the day the country superstar was due to play the first of his Croke Park shows. Brooks will now kick off his first world tour in years in Chicago on September 4 and is due in Europe before the end of 2014.

Speaking on The John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio One this morning, Clelia Murphy said the only reason she was roped into the whole enterprise was because she was sitting "in the RTÉ canteen crying into her coffee wearing a Garth Brooks T-shirt."

Wild Bill Hickey & The Blue Bulls gave the song it's world exclusive on the John Murray Show this morning. The song is now available on iTunes.
