Darth Vader more popular than Obama in US poll

The Dark Lord of The Sith has better approval ratings than President Obama and potential US Presidential Candidate Hilary Clinton according to a new opinion poll in the US.

The Guardian reports that statistics site FiveThirtyEight polled people about the `favourability' of different Star Wars characters, and only clownish funk soul brother Jar Jar Binks was less popular than Obama.

The Washington Post's Wonkblog crunched the numbers against the approval ratings of upcoming presidential candidates and other politicians.

Nearly 1200 people were polled and while siblings Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia proved very popular, even Darth Vader managed an impressive 58% approval rating, far outstripping approval ratings for a large part of the US body politic.

President Barack Obama is more popular than Binks but less of a hit with voters than creepy ol' Emperor Palpatine. Potential democratic frontrunner in 2016, Hillary Clinton's 19% approval rating puts her on a par with treacherous bounty hunter Boba Fett.
