Seamus Heaney: remembered at Townley Hall

Townley Hall in Drogheda hosts five concerts, a talk on the life and work of poet Seamus Heaney and a children’s workshop exploring music and dance over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Three evening concerts feature chamber music, song and jazz with performers including Rita Manning, Layla Claire, John Chest, Louis Stewart, The Manning Trio. 

Saturday night's concert, Chamber Music Meets Jazz, at 8.00pm, features legendary jazz guitarist Louis Stewart, saxophonist Mark Lockheart and Chris Laurence on double bass. The music will be preceded at 6.30pm by a talk on Seamus Heaney by Irish poet, Martin Dyar.

Tours of Townley Hall will also be available. Built in 1799 by Francis Johnston, Townley Hall is a paragon of architectural design, whose beautiful rooms boast excellent acoustics and light.
