Mullingar lad Niall Horan says that he got into One Direction's gigs in Croke Park last May in the back of a transit van. He has also reassured fans that the boyband are "still the same five idiots from three years ago.”

Niall hung out in his hometown in the run-up to the three-night stand in Croker and he told Top of the Pops magazine that he bunked into the gigs by hiding in the back of a van.

“I snuck into Croke Park in the back of a transit van. There was a couch in the back. I was on that.” he said.

Horan has said it was a dream come true to perform for 250,000 Irish fans in the stadium which he had regularly visited for football matches as a boy. “It’s the best night of my life, hands down”

He also told TOTPs magazine that he band have not been affected by fame and wealth. “We’re still the same five idiots from three years ago.”

Horan also dealt with regular rumours of One Direction's imminent split and said the band are closer than ever.

“We spend every day together. We have a good time on the road and obviously it’s so important that we all get along or it won’t work.”
