Rory McIlroy has been slammed for snubbing a young fans request for an autograph moments after he won The British Open at Hoylake.
However, fellow golfer Ian Poulter has defended the 25-year-old Northern Ireland man on Twitter, insisting that game rules states autographs can't be signed until scorecards are handed in.
Poulter posted: "Just to clear up the signature thing. We are asked not to sign autographs until we have officially handed in our scorecards. #RulesAreRules."
