Cash LP reinterpreted by Emmylou, Kristofferson

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian, Look Again to the Wind: Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears Revisited is released on August 19.

1964 saw the release of Bitter Tears, a concept album that aimed to reveal  the problems besetting the lives  of Native Americans.

The original songs have now been reinterpreted by Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Bill Millar and the Milk Carton Kids. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, Nashville and at the Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

The original 1964 recording went to number two in the country charts.
