One-time Virgin Prune Gavin Friday and his music partner Maurice Seezer have been presented with an Irish Music Rights Organisation and ASCAP award in recognition of the ongoing success of their film compositions in the USA in 2013.

Friday and Seezer have contributed music to the soundtracks of In the Name of the Father, Romeo + Juliet, The Boxer, Disco Pigs, and  50 Cent biopic Get Rich or Die Trying. The pair have also collaborated on three albums, Each Man Kills the Thing He Loves, Adam ‘n’ Eve and Shag Tobacco.

"Film and TV composition is an area that continues to grow in importance globally for Irish music creators,” said IMRO Chairman and former member of Moving Hearts Keith Donald at a Music In Film & TV Seminar held at IMRO HQ in Dublin.

“Gavin and Maurice have created some of the most inspiring, moving and memorable soundtracks in Irish film and TV across the last decade that have gone on to touch audiences around the world. Tonight this Award celebrates their creativity and talent."
