White Dee, the 42-year-old star of Benefits Street, is rumoured to have been offered £100,000 (€126,000) to appear on the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.
The Birmingham woman, whose real name is Deirdre Kelly, became a hit with viewers on Channel 4's controversial documentary series earlier this year.
Kelly's agent has denied that any Big Brother deal has been struck, despite her client being 'keen' to appear. The Sun quotes the figure of £100,000 and says it is to be one of the largest sums ever offered to a potential contestant.
White Dee also revealed this week that she is no longer receiving state support from the UK government. "Maybe it shouldn't be made so comfortable for people on benefits,’’ she told ITV’s This Morning.
“There are genuine people on benefits who do really want to find a job, but then there's other people who are so comfortable that they are thinking: `Well why should I find a job, because I'm perfectly happy living how I am?'"
