The first trailer for Angelina Jolie's new film Unbroken has been released.
The film, which is based on Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, chronicles the life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who enlisted in the US Army Air Forces during WWII.
His plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1943, and he washed ashore and was incarcerated in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp. Zampari passed away earlier this month aged 97.
The big screen adaptation stars Jack O'Connell as Zamperini, Domhnall Gleeson, Jai Courtney and Garrett Hedlund.
This is Jolie's second directorial outing after 2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey.
Unbroken will be released in cinemas this December.
