The Garden of Death, Mum and Dad and The Factory are among the songs that may feature on the second album from acclaimed Dublin band Little Green Cars.

The band have been writing and rehearsing in Wexford in between US tours and are set to break cover next week with a show in Dublin's Iveagh Gardens on July 12, which will be their biggest headline gig yet.

Speaking to RTÉ Ten about the follow-up to last year's No 1 debut album Absolute Zero, Stevie Appleby of the band said that the Wexford sessions have been fruitful.

“We’ve got about four or five songs out of it. The work is much more meticulous, there is no added pressure, no added sense of moving on; it’s about moving forward. There is no nitpicking.”

Appleby also said that the band has encountered Neil Young on  their recent US tour and that R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills attended one of their shows.

However, a meeting with reality TV star Nicole Richie was no so fortuitous. “I nearly knocked her down the stairs," Appleby said. "I turned a corner to walk down the stairs and she was walking up the stairs carrying a load of drinks. She’s tiny and I’m . . . not tiny. I nearly killed her! We could have collided. It was a big moment for me.”
