It may be 50 years after they made their breakthrough with You Really Got Me - but The Kinks are about to become a hit on London’s West End theatre district.
The musical Sunny Afternoon is based on an original story by the band’s leader and chief songwriter Ray Davies and features his music and lyrics, with a narrative by playwright and screenwriter Joe Penhall.
Following its sold-out run at Hampstead Theatre, previews of the new run of Sunday Afternoon at the Harold Pinter Theatre will begin on October 4. Tickets are on sale now.
Among the songs included in the show are classic Kinks' hits such as You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola.
