This is England director Shane Meadows' film The Living Room, which documents the work of musician Gavin Clark (Clayhill, UNKLE), will have its Irish premiere in Dublin next month.

The screening at the Button Factory on Friday July 18 will be preceded by Meadows' short Northern Soul and followed by a performance by Clark, accompanied by Nick Hemming and Helen Whitaker of The Leisure Society.

Tickets are priced €20 and available from buttonfactory.ie.

Meadows has said of his friend Clark: "Gavin Clark is the reason I gave up on my band and on any hopes of a career in music when I was 17 years of age."

Meadows continued: "I heard him play one day in a friend's kitchen in Uttoxeter, and the second he sang, I quit.

"The songs may be spread out over 20 years, but they are bound together by their simplicity, their honesty and most of all his voice. It's peerless, and so is Gavin."
