Renowned British actor John Simm adopts a US accent in the first trailer for BBC America's new series Intruders.

The former Life on Mars star heads the cast of the eight-part mystery drama, which also features Mira Sorvino and James Frain. The show is based on Michael Marshall Smith's 2007 novel The Intruders.

Simm plays Jack Whelan, an ex-cop with a dark past, while Sorvino has been cast as his wife Amy, who disappears under mysterious circumstances.

Frain - who is regularly cast as as baddie - plays Richards Shepherd, a murderer who claims to be an FBI agent.

Intruders will premiere on August 23 on BBC America.
