The battles are taking place on and off stage as Cheryl Cole and Mel B both up the style stakes at the first round of auditions in London.
The X Factor auditions are set to continue in Newcastle and Edinburgh next week, before the show returns later this summer.
The girls greeted fans yesterday in the Arsenal Emirates Stadium where the London auditions were being held and soon afterwards they were joined on the red carpet by Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell.
Speaking to talkshow host Graham Norton last night Crazy Stupid Love singer Cole revealed that she received a frosty welcome back to the judging panel by Louis Walsh but admits that "It [now] feels like I've never been away".
Former Spice Girl Mel B opted for a little black dress by Versus Versace, which also featured gold button detailing which was similar in style to the outfit that she wore for the Manchester auditions.
Cole was dressed head to toe in a tangerine Stella McCartney trouser suit and teamed the tailored look with a pair of studded black shoes.
