Harrison Ford’s publicist has confirmed that the star broke his left leg while shooting Star Wars: Episode VII and subsequently underwent surgery.
The 71-year-old was previously thought to have broken his ankle in an accident involving a door at Pinewood Studios earlier this month.
“His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly,” Ina Treciokas said in a statement. “He's doing well, and looks forward to returning to work.”
Ford will reprise his role as Han Solo in JJ Abrams's upcoming Star Wars sequel, which is due to be released for Christmas 2015.
He was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after the incident on June 12 and shooting of the film was reorganised and his scenes suspended until he's fit enough to resume.
