Brazil’s most famous model, Gisele Bundchen, is said to be set to present the World Cup trophy to this year’s winners in next month’s Rio de Janeiro final.

The Boston Globe reports that Bundchen will do the honours normally performed by the host nation’s head of state or the President of FIFA, football’s governing body.

But Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff, is unpopular at the moment, given the massive amount of money the country has spent bringing the tournament to Brazil for the first time since 1950.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter handed the trophy to Spain captain Iker Casillas after the previous final in South Africa in 2010.

But with his popularity also low amid allegations of corruption inside football’s governing body, Bundchen is expected to present the World Cup on July 13.

The Boston Globe claims: "We’re told Tom Brady’s supermodel spouse was asked by FIFA to do the job and, barring any riots that would make it unsafe, she will."
