Paul McCartney has cancelled a further fortnight of tour dates as he recovers from a virus. He says he will "take it easy for just a few more days."

The former Beatle is now scheduled to launch his tour in Albany, New York on July 5. He had already cancelled four concerts in Japan and his very first concert in South Korea.

The 71-year-old went into hospital in Tokyo on May 20, where he stayed just a few days. "I'm sorry, but it's going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again," McCartney said in a statement. "I'm feeling great, but taking my doc’s advice to take it easy."

McCartney is due to perform an historic gig on August 15 at San Francisco's Candlestick Park, the venue where the Beatles played their last ever complete concert.

The park is due to be demolished and McCartney hopes to headline the final show ever to be played there.
