FunnyFest, Ireland’s first dedicated comedy festival for children, begins Saturday July 5 at The Ark, Temple Bar, Dublin.
The festival, which runs until August 24, features stand-up comedy gigs starring some of the finest comedians from Ireland and abroad, theatre, concerts and a series of comedy-themed workshops.
A series of hands-on workshops at the Eustace Street venue will encourage children to explore their own creativity, writing and performing comedy, funny poetry, animation and slapstick. Tickets from €8 are now on sale, www.ark.ie
For three weekends during FunnyFest, the theatre also becomes a comedy club for families and children. with family friendly laughs for ages 6+. Each gig will feature 3 comedians, varying each week in shows that will last just one hour.
Some of the finest Irish and International comics will feature, including Andrew Stanley, Kevin Gildea, Foil, Arms and Hog, Marcus Olaoire, Reuben, Al Porter, Sharon Mannion, Paul Tylak, Totally Wired, and Bec Hill. (Bec Hill was famously proposed to by her boyfriend at her Edinburgh Fringe gig on August 19, 2013.)
