Hailed by the New York Times and Variety magazine, the Christmas-themed Elf The Musical opens at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on December 16.

Based on the 2003 cinema hit starring Will Ferrell, Elf tells the story of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole.

Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

“A splashy, peppy, sugar-sprinkled holiday entertainment,” raved the New York Times, while Variety magazine similarly enthused: “Elf is happy enough for families, savvy enough for city kids and plenty smart for adults.”

Tickets for Elf The Musical start at €20.00 and go on sale at 9am tomorrow, Friday June 13. The show runs from December 16 to January 10 2015.

The cast will be announced at a later date.
