Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal has been cast in the upcoming Netflix drama Narcos.
The actor, who is best known for playing Prince Oberyn Martell on the HBO fantasy series, will take on the role of Javier Pena in the new show which tells the true-life story of the growth of cocaine cartels around the world.
According to Deadline, it centres on the struggles faced by law-enforcement officials who faced a bloody battle to shut down the cartels during the late 1970s and '80s.
Pena is a Mexican DEA who travels to Colombia to take on the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar, who will be played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura.
The ten-part series will be directed by Jose Padiha from a script by Chris Brancato.
Padiha commented on the show: "Our idea is to tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the US and Europe - and how it all started here in Medellin".
Narcos will premiere on Netflix in 2015.
