Michael Flatley to hang up his dancing shoes

1 of 1 Flatley:
Flatley: "This old body of mine is beaten and battered"

Irish dancer Michael Flatley is set to hang up his dancing shoes after next year's Dublin world premier of Lord of The Dance - Dangerous Games.

The 55-year-old star insists that he is getting too old to prance about the stage, while revealing that he'll only perform the final two acts of the Lord of the Dance - Dangerous Games, next March.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Flatley said: "This old body of mine is beaten and battered from all the years dancing in shows.

"I don't think I could attempt to dance an entire show. But the lure of this new show opening in Dublin before an Irish audience was too much and I just had to be involved. I couldn't resist it.

"I wanted to do the final two big numbers myself and it will be my last time performing in Ireland.

"I feel really strong, really well but there is no way I could get through an entire show. My body is writing cheques that my legs can't cash anymore. But I am really buzzed about the new show."

Tickets for Lord of the Dance – Dangerous Games go on sale next Monday (June 9).

It was recently revealed that former Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle is set to play The Goddess of Erin in the new production of Michael Flatley's Lord Of The Dance.
