The CFDA Fashion Awards were held in New York City last night and Rihanna was honoured with the 2014 Fashion Icon Award. 

Awards season is the perfect opportunity for designers and celebrities to show off their fashion prowess, but the CFDA Awards gives those working in the fashion industry their deserved recognition. 

This year's CFDA Awards, hosted by John Waters, were held in New York City on Monday, paid tribute to some of the biggest movers and shakers in the industry. 

Famous faces including Rihanna - who was honoured with the Fashion Icon Award - Lupita Nyong'o, Blake Lively, Alexander Wang and Anna Wintour were all in attendance. 

Nominations were submitted by the Fashion Guild and a group of over 1,500 CFDA members including fashion editors, retailers, and stylists vote for the winners.
