Ahead of next week's shock whodunit episode, Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn has said fans are set for "at least another three weeks of really powerful drama".

Warning: spoiler alert!

Digital Spy reports that on Tuesday May 27's episode, Tina (Michelle Keegan) will be pushed from the balcony in the building yard.

Speaking at the TV BAFTAs, Blackburn said of the whodunit storyline: "The best bit is the climax - it's almost like the whole affair has been the prologue for what happens next.

"The whole thing's been so exciting and following on after the Roy and Hayley story from last year, to come up with something that is so different, but I think equally good, is just brilliant."

Of the EastEnders whodunit, which will run until February, Blackburn said: "It's a risky thing - I hope it goes well, because it's so brave to do something like that.

"With us, we're doing it in chapters - it was the affair, then it's Tina's death and the aftermath of that - and going into January next year, chapter three's going to be blistering - people are going to want revenge!"

He added: "It's the same for all the soaps - all of us at different times have these ongoing stories and getting that balance so you're not boring the audience and you're keeping them gripped without going over the top, it's hard work."
