Hollywood: Singing and Dancing, 9.00pm, Sky Arts 1

This 13-parter will be an absolute treat for anyone into Hollywood musicals. Liza Minnelli, Shirley MacLaine, Mickey Rooney and Debbie Reynolds are among the stars looking back at Hollywood’s most successful musical films in a comprehensive tour through the genre’s history. This series traces the development of the musical from Alan Crosland’s The Jazz Singer, which began the era of talking pictures, to the highpoint of Singin’ in the Rain (1952) and up to Bill Condon’s 2006 movie Dream Girls starring Beyoncé.

Episodes, 10.30pm, BBC 1

The Transatlantic Hollywood navel-gazing mockumentary returns with Matt LeBlanc, Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan once again playing the Yank and the two Limeys. In the first episode, Matt continues to fight for custody of his children, trying to convince his ex-wife to forgive him for sleeping with his stalker. Meanwhile, Sean and Beverly are back together - but soon discover that it’s not so easy to heal old wounds, especially when additional secrets are revealed about their time apart.

Live UEFA Europa League: Seville v Benfica, 7.30pm, TV3

Portuguese sides have performed exceptionally well since this competition got a second re-branding (it used to be the UEFA Cup and, before that, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup) and Irish football fans may recall an all-Portuguese final at the Aviva a couple of years back. This time around, Lisbon's Benfica beat the competition favourites Juventus in the semis to set up a decider at the Serie A champions’ Turin stadium against Seville, with the Spaniards very slight favourites. Tommy Martin hosts the action.
