Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston had doubts about signing up to Godzilla because he had issues with the script.

The 58-year-old actor admits that he had to be convinced to take on the role of Joe Brody in the American science fiction monster film.

Speaking at the movie's European premiere in London’s Leicester Square last night, Cranston said: “The writing in Breaking Bad was so superb and I wanted something to match that, but I thought, ’What a fool. Maybe I’ll never find anything to match that. So (I should) do something in a completely different genre but still have a very strong, compelling character-driven arcs.”

Godzilla hits cinemas on May 15.
