Yabadabadoo! Warner Bros. have started work on a new animated movie of The Flintstones.

The Flintstones last outing on the big screen was in 1994 in Universal's live-action movie starring John Goodman, Elizabeth Perkins, Rick Moranis and Rosie O'Donnell. The movie took in over €244 million at the box office. It was followed up by a prequel in 2000 starring Mark Addy and Stephen Baldwin.

Warner Bros., who acquired the rights to the animated classic as part of parent company Time Warner's acquisition of Turner Broadcasting in 1996, have enlisted Chris Hency to pen the script for a brand new animated movie, with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay serving as producers. .

The original cartoon series The Flintstones, created by Hanna-Barbera, imitated and spoofed Jackie Gleason’s The Honeymooners. Fred and Wilma Flintstone were referred to in theme song as the modern Stone Age family.

The series ran from 1960 to 1966.
