Former Coronation Street star Julie Hesmonghalgh has been cast in her first television role since leaving Coronation Street earlier this year.
The actress bowed out of the soap in dramatic scenes in January when her character, Hayley Cropper, died of cancer.
BBC News reports that the 44-year-old acress is set to star in the upcoming Russell T Davies drama series Cucumber.
The series for Channel 4 will focus on gay life in the 21st Century. Freddie Fox and Vincent Franklin have already been cast in the series.
