Bad news for Kerry Washington fans - UK broadcaster Channel 4 has confirmed that it has dropped US Emmy-winning drama Scandal.

The first two seasons of the slick, fast-paced Washington-starring series ran on its More4 offshoot, which tends to attract very small audiences.

"We can confirm that More4 will not be showing the new season of Scandal," said a Channel 4 spokesperson.

"We appreciate that this may be disappointing news to fans of the show, and decisions like these are never taken lightly, but please be assured that, as always, we're striving to bring other new and exciting shows to the channel."

Yet another brainchild of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice creator Shona Rhimes, Scandal follows the fortunes of Washington DC 'fixer' Olivia Pope (Washington) and her team.

The show scored an Emmy win in 2013 and has also been nominated for a Golden Globe, as well as several other industry awards and nominations.

The recently-completed third season of Scandal premiered Stateside on ABC in October 2013 and is one of US TV's highest-ranking dramas.

Scandal is now expected to be eagerly picked-up by one of the UK's satellite channels.
