How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan has revealed she is not happy that a 'heart-wrenching' scene was deleted from the finale of the hit show. *Warning Spoiler Alert*
40-year-old Hannigan, who played Lily, confessed that she thinks the deleted scene, which show a montage of the Mother character Tracy’s funeral, would have given fans more closure.
Many viewers expressed their disappointment that Ted ended up with Robin and Tracy had died by the time Ted began telling his story to his children.
Speaking to TVLine Hannigan said: “Honestly, if you saw that cut [of the funeral], it would be even more heart-wrenching than what the finale was.
“They were like, 'No, it's just too gut-wrenching'. And I was like, 'That's what I want. I want my heart ripped out and slammed on the floor and, like, stomped on!
"[I think it] would have been better for the audience, so that then they can process, 'Oh, [Ted] mourned. He got closure' - and then they'd be happy that [he and Robin] got together.
“Rather than be like, 'Oh, wait. She died? What? They're together, huh?' And credits. That's what I think was too fast."
The actress also revealed that the last episode was 18 minutes shorter than the original script.
