Leeds band The Wedding Present play Dublin’s Button Factory on Saturday November 8, performing their 1994 lo-fi pop album Watusi, and other songs.
The Wedding Present formed in 1985 to release debut single Go Out and Get Em Boy! while their debut album, George Best, followed some years later.
For their first major label album on RCA, Ukrainski Vistupi V Johna Peela, released in 1989, they explored East European music, with musical influences from Ukraine no less, featuring prominently in the mix. Bizarro followed, which yielded the hit single, Kennedy.
Their Seamonsters album was recorded in a snowy Minnesota in 11 days, revealing songs that were more wisftul and reflective. By the end of 1992, The Wedding Present had released twelve 7” singles, one per month. The singles were compiled on the two Hit Parade LPs.
Watusi - the matter of their Dublin gig - was produced by Steve Fisk, and released in 1994 .
