The Liam Cunningham-starring and Brian O'Malley-directed Irish horror Let Us Prey has won the Méliès d'Argent award for Best European Fantastic Film at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

An Irish/Scottish co-production, Let Us Prey was co-produced by Irish company Fantastic Films and shot mainly in Studio Solas in Galway.

It tells the story of a rookie police officer (Pollyanna McIntosh) who must deal with all hell breaking loose on her first nightshift in a backwater town following the arrival of Six (Cunningham).

John O'Donnell of Fantastic Films said: "This is Brian's first feature but he is one of Ireland's leading commercial directors and so we knew that Let Us Prey was in very safe hands."

Let Us Prey will now compete for the Méliès d'Or at the Sitges Film Festival of fantasy and horror in October.
