Big news for Corrie fans, bad boy Jim McDonald is returning to the Street. Warning: Spoiler Alert!

His character Jim McDonald is currently serving time behind bars for robbery, but Coronation Street has confirmed that actor Charlie Lawson is set to make his soap comeback this July.

54-year-old Lawson has initially signed on for a three-month contract and it is thought that his storyline will focus on his life behind bars.

Jim, who has a fiery relationship with his wife Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) was last seen on the cobbles in 2011.

He was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to steal from a Building Society so that Liz would have enough money to buy the Rovers Return.

McDonald was a regular in Corrie for 11 years between 1989 and 2000.
