WWE legend The Ultimate Warrior has died at the age of 54.

The Ultimate Warrior had been inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE) Hall of Fame on Saturday April 5. He had appeared at WrestleMania 30 on Sunday April 6 and on Monday Night Raw this week.

In a statement, World Wrestling Entertainment Inc said: "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior."

The statement continued: "We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans."

Born James Hellwig, The Ultimate Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and was a former WWF Champion and two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion.

He officially changed his name to Warrior in 1993 and also wrestled in World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
