Disney movie Frozen has overtaken Toy Story 3 to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Audiences have been flocking to the cinema in their droves to see the latest Disney release and now, Frozen, has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Frozen, which follows a princess who sets off to find her estranged sister, after the latter's icy powers have trapped the kingdom in an eternal winter, has now reached $1.072 billion in ticket sales, beating the previous record-holder Toy Story 3 ($1,063bn).
The picture was still riding high in the top ten on both sides of the Atlantic into February 2014.
The Lion King is the third-highest-grossing animated movie ever, ahead of Despicable Me 2 in fourth and Finding Nemo in fifth. The rest of the top ten is completed by Shrek and Ice Age sequels.
