Madonna is set to direct a new romantic drama Ade.
The popstar, who last directed 2011's period romance WE, will get back in the director's chair for the big screen adaptation of Rebecca Walker's debut novel Ade: A Love Story.
The novel tells the story of a 19-year-old female American student who falls in love with a young Muslim man on an island off the coast of Kenya. Their hastily made plans to marry, however, are thrown into disarray by a civil war.
Madonna is already a fan of the book, and provided a blurb that appeared in promotional materials.
Bruce Cohen (Silver Linings Playbook) is attached to produce, while a screenwriter is currently being sought to adapt the book.
Madonna's last directorial project WE centred on the romance between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.
She also directed the 2008 comedy Filth and Wisdom.
