Kevin Spacey is set to play former British prime minister Winston Churchill in an upcoming biopic, it has been reported.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the House of Cards star is attached to Captain of the Gate, which chronicles Churchill's rise to power as he tried to defend Britain and the world from Adolf Hitler's Third Reich.
The biopic, which has yet to find a director, is being produced by Sierra/Affinity with a budget of approximately $20 million.
Ben Kaplan, who previously tackled the late President Ronald Reagan for a History Channel film, wrote the screenplay.
Spacey currently plays ruthless American politician Frank Underwood on the popular Netflix series House of Cards.
He will soon star in the one-man show Clarence Darrow at London's Old Vic Theatre to mark 10 years as artistic director of the venue.
