Actor Andy Serkis, best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies, is set to direct the live action version of The Jungle Book for Warner Bros.
The Hollywood Reporters says Serkis is stepping in to replace director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu who had to leave the project due to scheduling problems.
Disney is also currently working on a live action version of the story which is set to be directed by Elf helmer Jon Favreau with Idris Elba already cast as the voice of Shera Khan.
This would be Serkis’s first outing as director having previously directed the second unit for Peter Jackson on The Hobbit movies.
