Sky and US network FX have signed a deal to work together and develop new US and UK post-watershed comedy projects.

Digital Spy reports that the two-year deal will involve creating half-hour scripted comedies to air on Sky1 and Sky Atlantic in the UK and on FX in the US.

Comedy is nothing new to either broadcaster. Sky's output includes Charlie Brooker's A Touch of Cloth, Chris O’Dowd’s Moone Boy and Alan Partridge's Mid-Morning Matters.

FX have so far produced cult comedies such as Louis CK’s Louie and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as Anger Management, Charlie Sheen’s comeback show after Two and a Half Men.

"We're hugely excited about working with FX Networks to develop distinctive brand new comedy and further strengthen our commitment to original home-grown programming," Sky's head of comedy Lucy Lumsden said.

"Partnering with the world's most renowned broadcasters lets us bring Sky customers something truly special, and we look forward to working with the most talented comedy writers and performers in both Britain and the US."
