Angela Griffin has been cast in ITV's Lewis as a new Detective Superintendent.
A new six-part series of the crime drama was commissioned in February after coming off air two years ago.
The former Waterloo Road actress confirmed that she has joined the eighth run of the popular detective drama on Twitter yesterday (March 17).
The Loose Woman star wrote: "First day of filming tomorrow on my new job... Which I can now tell you is on Lewis for @ITV. I'm playing the new DS. Can't wait!! Chuffed."
She later tweeted about her first day: "Lovely day on #Lewis!!! What a warm welcome. This is going to be fun."
Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox will be reprising their roles as Lewis and Hathaway in the new episodes.
The new series will see a retired Lewis returning to active duty and re-teaming with his old partner Hathaway, who has been promoted to Inspector.
