Disney and Lucasfilm announced yesterday that Star Wars: Episode VII will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.

Filming for the sequel is scheduled to get underway in May.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger as saying during Disney's annual shareholder's meeting in Portland, Oregon "There will be some very familiar faces along with a trio of new young leads."

The film will mainly be shot at London’s Pinewood Studios and will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

Iger added "Rumor has it that almost every actor in the world has been cast in this movie, but so far, the official castmember that we've confirmed - the only one - is R2D2.”
