Legendary voiceover artist Hal Douglas has died following complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 89.

Douglas was regarded as one of the most famous voiceover artists in cinema history, and while his name and face may be unfamiliar to many, his voice is unmistakable as he spoke over many famous film trailers.

He’ll be best remembered for his often-imitated opening line "In a world..." and its many variations, while his voiceover CV includes a broad spectrum of films such as Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Con AirMeet The Parents and Coneheads.

In a New York Times interview from 2009 he reflected on his prolific career, saying: “You sit down in the theatre and sometimes in three out of four trailers I'd be on them.”
