The Irish short film Scratch is set to get its New York premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The satirical film, which was funded by RTÉ and the Galway Film Centre, has been selected to be screened as part of the festival's shorts program - 'Handle With Care'.

Commenting on the announcement, the film's co-writer and producer Liam Ryan said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our short film has been accepted at this most prestigious festival”

Scratch tells the story of Eoin who works the night shift in a quiet petrol station. His main distraction is regular customer Ger who believes he has a system for picking winning scratch cards. Things take an unexpected turn with the arrival of a masked armed robber, starting a chain of events that neither Eoin nor Ger could have predicted.

The film was produced by Warrior Films, directed by Philip Kelly and stars Conor Drum, Stephen Jones (Druid Murphy, Love/Hate), Sam Keeley (Raw, What Richard Did) and Ian Lloyd Anderson (Love/Hate, Standby).

Scratch debuted at JDIFF 2013 and has since screened at Galway Film Fleadh 2013, San Francisco Irish Film Festival 2013, Cork Film Festival 2013, Foyle Film Festival 2013, Chicago Irish Film Festival 2013 and London Short Film Festival 2013.
