Veteran pop duo the Pet Shop Boys have released a new song based on the recent gay rights speech by Panti Bliss.

The group posted The Best Gay Possible on Soundcloud on Saturday (March 8), setting the full ten-minute speech to a trance track.

On February 1 drag queen Panti - real name Rory O'Neill - made the speech about gay rights at Dublin's Abbey Theatre that quickly went viral.

The speech generated over 200,000 views in two days and the speech was supported by the likes of Graham Norton, Stephen Fry, Madonna, and others.

O'Neill responded to the song, tweeting: "Pet Shop Boys made an amazing track out of my Noble Call speech. Seriously, they did."
