Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton have joined the cast of 12 Years a Slave writer John Ridley's pilot American Crime for ABC.
American Crime, which will be written, executive produced and directed by Oscar-winner Ridley, will examine the impact of a racially-charged murder trial on a Central Valley, California community.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Huffman will play female lead Barb Skokie, ex-wife of Russ (Hutton), who has raised their two sons Mark and Matt in public housing while he was off gambling.
The former couple's lives are turned upside down when Matt and his wife Lily are murdered in their home.
The casting will see Huffman's return to ABC following her eight-season run as Lynette Scavo on Desperate Housewives.
Hutton recently appeared in Leverage from 2008 to 2012.
