James Nesbitt is to star in a new BBC One thriller centred on the search for a missing child.

The Missing will also star Frances O'Connor of Mister Selfridge and French actor Tcheky Karyo, who has previously appeared in Bond movie Goldeneye.

The new eight-part drama follows Tony (Nesbitt), who is searching Paris for his missing child, Oliver, and charts the impact the hunt has on his relationship with wife Emily (O'Connor).

Karyo will appear as Julien, a French detective who leads the police investigation into Oliver's disappearance.

Jason Flemyng, Ken Stott and Arsher Ali will also feature, and The Missing is expected to be broadcast on BBC One in late 2014.
