Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips actor Barkhad Abdi is in talks to star in The Place That Hits the Sun, the new film from Irish director Jim O'Hanlon and producer Noel Pearson.
The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, says that the film tells the true story of Willie Mtolo, a Zulu warrior who competed in the 1992 New York Marathon.
The film will focus on his friendship with white bar owner Ray de Vries in South Africa.
Pearson will produce the drama through his company Ferndale Films.
O'Hanlon's directing credits include Quirke, A Touch of Cloth and Of Two Minds.
