Look out America – The Irish Pub is on its way across the Atlantic!

Irish Director Alex Fegan's critically-acclaimed documentary film will have its North American premiere at the Toronto Irish Film Festival on February 28 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox before screening at the Chicago and Boston Irish Film Festivals in March.

This uniquely Irish documentary will subsequently be released in cinemas in Canada and the United States during the summer of 2014 before launching on DVD and on-demand.

Made with a total crew of one person - Alex Fegan himself - The Irish Pub celebrates the greatest institution in Irish society, the pub; or, more specifically, the often quirky traditional Irish publicans who run them.

The characters in Fegan's film all run and own pubs that have been in their families for generations and it is through their warmth, wit and occasional wisdom that we gain an insight into the heart and soul of the Irish pub and the Irish people.

To celebrate the launch of The Irish Pub in North America, here is the EXCLUSIVE first glimpse of one of the film's hilarious anecdotes from garrulous publican Paul Gartlan. It’s called The American in the Toilet:
