After 21 years on Dublin's Wicklow Street, Tower Records has opened in its new Southside home at 7 Dawson Street, the former Waterstones building.

Tower Records says the move has allowed it to "create a record store model from scratch, the same old indie vibe wrapped up in brand new, shiny triple gatefold packaging".

Along with CDs and DVDs, the new store also features an expanded vinyl area, a bigger Tower Café, Cloney Audio's "old school Listening Suite", a tablet store, phone repair shop and Irish-made merchandise and art.

Customers are promised in-store performances, signing and listening sessions, film screenings, exhibitions, family days, student nights and more in the months - and years - ahead.
